Rebuilding ties, plans, concepts, and the club...
Oct. 14, 2006
Life goes on, one of us works full time, the other is looking for work. There are plans in the making, and ties to be re-established.

First off, hello to the folks from Animeikyou, CSU Stanislaus' campus anime club, who put on a wonderful Saturday afternoon anime/live-action double feature showing yesterday. I'm the semi-silent one in the red t-shirt from the showing, and I'm the webmaster for the club. (Yeah, it's nice to rent a webserver with a decent amount of space and a vanity domain, but that's another story.)

I hope this will be the start of something new, and hopefully more beneficial than in the past. As stated yesterday, Raging Otaku Society grew out of the desire of some folks who splintered off from Anime Anonymous, the club at Modesto Junior College which was the predecessor to Animeikyou. It's been about seven years, and just about everyone from the beginning has moved on, some staying in fandom to some degree, and others going off in different directions. I'm still here, having taken over website management, and co-hosting duties, up through our last meetings about a couple years back. Time moves on, whether you wish to perceive it or not.

As discussed, and evidenced at Bay Area events such as JTAF, Fanime, and even AOD (Among the current cons still running in the area), there are a lot of attendees from the Central San Joaquin Valley. (Ray Nagar, the fellow who heads up JTAF and Agent 760 Productions, was amazed at the number of attendees who registered from Modesto) It's to our best interests to work with other established clubs in the area, exchange ideas, and learn what works in promoting club meetings, events, anime showings, and gauge support for expanding upon fandom activities here in the valley.

(Entry in progress - Got something up new for a change - Will return to write more.) To Come: Re-establishing ties with previous meeting site/locating new meeting site, re-establishing a workable schedule. (Perhaps every other week, if not every week?)

Accesses Since October 2007:

Here are a few rules that we politely request you follow:
  • Please be considerate of others who are watching the shows. If you've gotta have a conversation, please have it outside, or towards the back of the store. For the benefit of all attending, see A Few Words On Proper Behavior.
  • Due to the content of some of our programming, members age 15 or under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No exceptions.
  • Programming for mature audiences (Conforming to Pioneer/Geneon's 16 UP, 18 UP standards, etc.) will be shown only after 10 pm. We've got a good thing going at Krier's, so let's not blow it.
  • We aren't responsible for offending anyone with anime content if that should happen. It's a free country and you have the right to choose whether you stay or leave if you are unhappy with what we are showing ;} If you dont like what we are showing, please don't complain obnoxiously like “this sucks!” and various other derogatory comments about the anime. Some people do like what we are showing, and would like to enjoy the show. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but please, be tactful about how you express them. Thanks! ^_^;
